I always wanted to build a Ludwig Cromwell.
But then Hooben got in the way...
Recently I was able to buy a largely assembled Ludwig kit on eBay:
But there was still a lot to do...
First the model had to be cleaned, it was very dusty.
Then I changed the turret drive and the bearing to ball bearings:
I ordered some parts from Shapeways:
many more small details had to be added
The chassis was still with HL-Tiger swing arms and very wobbly.
I ordered the milled aluminium swing arms from Christian Ludwig:
First testfit looks good...
For the idler wheel i 3d-printed a new one
I used a modified Tiger I track tensioner from Henntec
Gearbox is a PDSGB from Forgebear for the T-34
Here I have changed the gear ratio in the toothed belt drive
The axle shafts were additionally supported
