Hi folks

about 6 months ago I thought I would scratch build a Challenger 2....I've done nout !

Having just read Oztruck's build thread on his Centurion I feel shamed into action.

So I think that I should start and put some of my new skills to use.

I have bought a trumpeter 1/35 plastic kit...measured the model....multiplied by 35...then divided by 16. Now I know its a big tank but it seems massive as a 1/16 scale model.

I will build the hull from ally sheet, and the deck/turret from ply and grp. I have very limited knowledge of these beasties, so I wonder if there is anything in the suspension and wheel department that I can nick and modify from a HL 1/16 tank and use on the Chally ????

Or will it be better to just buy a modern Panther and convert it as Oz has done with his Centurian.

Or are HL and co. going to bring one out and realy p me off ???

I would appreciate your comments and advice....Cheers  Mike

Using 100" as an example,

if:

1/35 of 100 is 100/35 = 2.85"

and:

1/16 of 100 is 100/16 = 6.25"

then:

2.85" x 35  = 99.75"

and:

99.75/16 = 6.23"

So, as long as you didn't hit the wrong buttons..you are using the correct calculation, and yes the Challenger is around 30% longer than a Tiger (according to the tank crew at Bovington, the Challenger is based upon the Centurion, despite outward appearances).

I'd look at the HL M26 for running gear, either that or the Hobby Engine Leo 2 and Abrams.

There are rumours that a Modern tank is coming out soon, and I read somewhere that it's a Challenger.

Also 35/16 = 2.1875 so to convert 1/35 to 1/16 just multipy the 1/35 measurement by 2.1875 (work fine for my Jagdpanther).
