Can any one help me.I am constructing a aerial tube out of brass. The real tube had a cap on the end of it to close it.Any one know if the cap was on the tube towards the front of the tank or the rear.I have searched and found that the Bovington example still has its tube but no cap so cant tell for location.Any help would be great.Regards John.

Are you sure you don't mean Panther? The King Tiger does not have an external antenna/barrel cleaning tube
If it is the Panther you mean then it opens at both ends

HI, thanks for that but the barrel cleaning rod sections were mounted on the side off the hull approx half way a long its length in between the top and lower section of tow cable for that side. Every one knows that. The aerial tube for the King Tiger,is only for the aerial and was mounted at the very back of the tank, loaders side, just on top of the edge of the hull and the rear of tube finished just before it reached the fuel vent pipe. Tamiya supply's a aerial tube in their kit and Heng Long produced this for theirs. If you have a look at the Bovington King Tiger photos or a walkaround video on their King Tiger you will see what I am talking about. Hope that clears the subject up a bit. Regards John.

All my Tiger 1s have the (Seconded end of a ballpoint refill) capping the (Brass)spare aerial tube at the front.
I have no reason to suppose that the Tiger2 would be any different,
If you think about it the Radio operator would have to dismount to change the aerial if the cap was at the rear whereas it could be changed without getting off in what at times could be very hazardous conditions (Deep mud or snow for instance),

Just spotted it, looks like its missing from a lot of vehicles including war time pictures. No wonder I never noticed it
