we have never heard of such a problem from any other customer.
The USM-HL-2 only listens to the signals from the receiver. However, it does not change the signals and does not send any signals into the RX-18.
I'm sorry, but I don't have any advice for you on how the binding could work again. I would have suggested disconnect the USM-HL-2 from the RX-18, but you've already done that.
After all, I have to buy a new TORRO transmitter and RX18 (ver.1).
