Tile adhesive seems to be popular?

Be sure to check the Armortek forum too. ;-)

On a large 1/6 scale panzer, you might want to try to replicate the real thing...

Zimmerit recipe from Wikipedia;

The paste was composed of the following:
40% barium sulfate – BaSO4
25% polyvinyl acetate – PVA (similar to wood glue)
15% pigment (ochre)
10% zinc sulfide – ZnS
10% sawdust
In the raw paste, polyvinyl acetate was used in the form of "Mowilith 20", a 50% benzene solution.[2] During the drying process, the benzene evaporated and the mixture hardened.

I believe I have seen a large scale Jagdpanther with polystyrene sheet overlay with a zimmerit finish somewhere. Of course I can't find it as it was awesome.
From memory he put a styrene sheet over plate and burned in the look with a soldering iron.
There are many Zimmerit kits and putties but for me the one mentioned above looked the best.

If you go 'real' make sure you burn the zimmerit with flames to get the benzine out! ;D

Now paint and glue fumes, even Eau de MEK, are "par for the course" at the weekly five-person modeling and bull-shooting extravaganza at my house, but that burning sensation might clear the place out, dog first out the door!
