I think I finally found it. For some reason, I think it was the receiver, I had to move the stick to max position to trigger its connection. It would chirp bind upon power on, but wouldn't respond. Once I maxed the channel stick it would chirp again and the channel would work. Strange.

After that I could finally try the mixes, as they wouldn't work before. I could only find one tutorial on the web on how to set up tracked steering and he was completely wrong. In fact, in the video he stated that he doesn't own one, "but this should work". It didn't but now I believe it does. Heading out to try now. Thanks for the help guys.
