Pigments are another nice way to weather, really easy. Put them on with white spirit, let it dry, brush a little, done!
I think this is the ultimate 'dusty' look, best method I found so far.

MP,
I keep saying to myself "why doesn't he leave well enough alone"? But I can see why, you keep making it better and better all the time! Not sure how that's even possible, but you surely have the "Master's Touch"! I especially love the shaded rust on the threads of the chained bolt thingy!
Cheers,
Eric.

I was again looking at your photos and noticed a U-joint lined up with a hole right through the whatsamajiggit cover. That must be a power-take-off from the flywheel for some kind of accessory, like, say, a generator or pump? No?

Can you point out what you mean on a photo?

Maybe this will help. I tried to identify what seems to be a filter? coolant overflow can? with a hole through it aligned with the U-Joint on what I think is a power shaft.

Love the edges. Looks like real metal. How do you do that. Just needs some oil over it now

Hmmmm... Rather empty!
Missing this! So I photgraphed the book, and rescaled the labels in Photoshop. On the right the printed version, lol.
On double-sided tape
Sides blackened
Better!

You certainly rank highly among the super realistic detailers! Beautiful eye candy.

"Ah, yes, look at this." So it's all for the starter crank! Wow, I was so fooled I had it backwards! I am used to the kind of starter crank that just runs under the radiator to the front pulley of old farm tractors. This is a bit more complicated.
