hi all

well the dicker max is on hold for a few weeks whild i wait for some gizmos to turn up .. so i am half looking for someting to do ..

i think i would like to play around with the t-34 got one still in the box ... i know theres a t-34 arv on this site ... so nope .. the su series have been done .. so whats left ? .....

after an exhaustive search .. in the loo with a pile of books i found some well crap pics of the t-44.... a cross if you like of the t 34  and the t-54
the russians actualy built between 150 and 200 of them ... little is know .. but thay did see action ! the russian tank muceum is looking for ' history ' for me like which units .. battle accounts .. and anything at all .... needless to say there seems to be no drawings just some very grainy pictures

the basic tank is a t34 chassis ... a t54 upper hull ..and a t-35/85 turret with thicker frontal armour ... only 1 inch thicker and dose not look any different to the standatd turret ....

so it may be on the cards to have a go ..

any one out there got any info at all ??

iain

Rumor has it that there is one on a plinth here somewhere in the city, inside a Russian Navy compound. Said rumor was from an ex tank mech who worked there some 25 years ago. He correctly ID'd the details, and also said it has two 8.8cm holes in it, plated over, and some kind of damage to the left front idler area.
However, things have been locked up tight as a drum since the war last year with Gruzya (where they get "Georgia" from Gruzya I have no idea), and my bud who normally gets me in to places like that has been a tad busy since 09 Aug last year. However, eventually I will get in there and if it's still there, will photo ever square cm of it. Also, doesn't Kubinka have one? Would think they would if anyone would.
Also, here's two links and a profile drawing.

No problem on the sight infos. As for the damage report, it was an old guy (anyone older than me is now an 'old guy') who was pretty detailed about the tank. He was watching one of our demos last year on Victory Day. He was a wealth of info, but typical here would not give anything beyond his first name, which I doubt was correct, and no phone number so we could meet later.
Problem, as mentioned, is the continuing tension here. Seems the Govt in Kiv is making daily provocations about the Fleet here, so the normal tight access to compounds is even more tight. That and my bud is pretty busy since the war, so have not been able to nose around for it. But, eventually this will all pass, and if the tank is still here, I'll find it.
