How do I get the drive wheels off a T34?

Just got me a T34 off Ebay, quick run round and the LH drive wheel is slipping. Not a problem as I have a full set of HL electrics to go in there, and want to fit HL gearboxes, so....I have stripped the lower hull of everything but...
1. Update - Done this bit with a combination of dexterity, swearing and a pair of pliers to get that bush off. How do I get the drive wheels off so that I can get the driveshafts out? I have removed the outer half by removing the three screws behind the inner half, but is it just brute force and ignorance to pull them free of the final drive cog? (I would have used my lump hammer but Fleshy borrowed it to fix his Stuart).
2. What are the easiest gearboxes to fit.
3. Can the WSN recoil be made to work with the HL boards?
4. Is there anything else I need to know?
Cheers

Rob the shafts are held in place with little brass bushes which is best to twist them only a little to get them off

And then you'll be wanting this little set up. I'll have a price in another couple days, from Daryl's Parts. And you can get the metal final drive gear from I think Tank Zone or WD. They originally came from Belgium if memory serves.
The parts are a kit for both outdrives, Bearings replace the stock bushings, a new drive shaft and inner drive wheel is fabricated from aluminium, and aluminium lug covers for the track lugs in the final drive sprocket also are included, with screws. Goes together perfect, no filing or shimming needed, just open the kit and install. I use it on VCO's T34, have for 6 months now as a field trial. Kit has survived this charming acc gumbo rock garden we live in.

The WSN gearboxes are actually in pretty good shape, it's only one final drive gear that has rounded out inside, this was causing the slip. Cheap option is just fit the metal driveshaft gears, but I would be interested in prices on this little set up when they are available.
Next option is a full set of metal gears from Military Might.
..and the next option is HL Tiger gearboxes.
I have a full RX14 set up, complete with Darkith units to transplant from the Bulldog, or I may even make a transportable pod using my spare Elmod kit so that I can switch it between the Bulldog and the T34.
Decisions, decisions.
Suspension arms have now been filled with Milliput to stiffen them up. The road wheels really could do tightening them up, but the previous owner has painted them, and I can't get the centre caps off without breaking them...ho hum. Need to either repair or replace the barrel too.
I will have a look in the turret today and see what I can dispense with out of there. Why oh why didn't I raid more of Dave's parts bin at Cobbaton!

Hi Rob,
I got a WSN t34 when they first came out. Currently its fitted with Walker Bulldog gearboxes and metal final drive gear from the upgrade kit for the standard gearbox.
The Bulldog gearboxes will just about fit, but the tops of the frames needed shaving down so they don't stick up above the line of the motor.
One problem I found with it is track tension. If you run it flat out with the tracks realistically loose then the track links can catch the flange at the rear of the hull as they leave the sprocket.
I'm using Tamiya electronics, recoil and gunflash. Only trouble is, it sounds suspiciously like a K/T :-[ I'm waiting to hear a Tammy KV1 "in the flesh" and if that sounds OK I will probably change the MFU.
Also I'm in the process of changing the suspension arms to home made brass ones and fitting ball races to the roadwheels and suspension arm mounts in the hull. I've only done the front & rear sets so far but already its made a big difference to the way it rides.

Now you have got me all depressed...my T34 is currently in a million pieces all over my kitchen. So, are you telling me that the HL gearboxes to go for are the Bulldog ones (eg any US tank) with the shorter driveshaft? How much work was involved in making them fit?
