hi guys,
as some may know a while back my jagdpanther flash unit stopped working, so i unplugged it and carefully cut it open and everything looked fine, i just assumbed the capaciter of something had stopped working.
However ive just received my new flash unit, pluggined it in and fired. Nothing.
so am i to assume its a problem with the board ? if so what do i do (considering tamiya offer a life time warrenty) ??
thanks guys,
Matt

Matt, there should be an high pitched whine like a cameraflash being charged when you turn the tank on and I do not get that sound on the Jagdpanther, but do get the whine on the Pershing and Sherman. so it sounds like the capacitor on the board is shot

thanks pete,
not sure about the pershy, it might not just be jagd's after alL!
and i dont know if it covers the flash units, probably not as they are more likely to go wrong!
cheers,
Matt

Same issue with my Jagd. The fix was simple. Try resetting (re-booting) your DMD Units per the kit instructions. That might do the trick.
Tip:
Make sure you disconnect the battery first before plugging connectors into the DMD Units and removing connectors. That goes for the TBU also, at least with my Tiger I or I have to reset the DMD Units.

Considering that you have a new flash unit that didn't work as well, though, the DMD might be the culprit.
I had an intermittent flash problem on my Pershing too. After much effort I managed to extract the gun flash unit and cut it partially open to find that one of the solder joints (black wire) was broken. I also found out that Tamiya's stick-on warning label about high voltage wasn't nanny-state caution, when I got shocked by the discharge. If you didn't get any shock, its probably a DMD-related issue.
Anyway, there are three wires coming out of the strobe flash end, white, black and red. The red goes to the extreme end of the bulb, the black is at the arse end, and the white one on the side. Check that all of them are intact.
