Hi,
For the benefits of guys checking out the Show off section, here is an RC conversion of the 1/16 scale Takom static kit of the Panzer 1 Ausf B. The full build can be seen at viewtopic.php?f=23&t=30821. It was a very fast conversion build, less than 2 weeks. The Takom kit is an excellent base for a light but solid model, very well detailed and relatively easy to build. There are probably many ways to convert this static kit to RC, this is one of them. The main challenge is to find a gear box that can fit the model without altering the chassis. It takes a lot of grinding of the exterior shell of the small gearbox to be able to fit them in their limited allocated space at the front. The model runs well but due to the small 130 motors, care must be used when running the model as to not burn the motors or strip the gearbox.
The models has the following features;
- Takom 1010 1/16 Panzer Pz.Pkfw.I Ausf.B static kit
- R-Model CQ16001 1/16 Panzer 1 metal tracks
- Modified suspension
- Arduino DIY 130 motor robot tank gearbox
- 35RCTANK MTC-2 and ACU control boards
- Zippy compact 850 7.4V 2 cell battery
- Heng Long turret rotation unit with Vex gear.
- Servo operated MG-13 machine gun elevation
- MG13 modified with flash
- Headlights and blackout lights with LEDs
Regards, Louis
