Hey folks,

I found an unloved stug on eBay, was a bit of a punt but when it arrived it found it was the IR pro version and came with metal side skirts.

This detailing is going to be done out of the bits box with a minimum of after market bits. I think the only exceptions will be a 6.0 control board and some steel gears.

The first job was to rebuild the side skirts, they had been damaged in transit but on closer inspection had been assembled backwards!

They were cleaned up, straightened and refitted.



I had some impact metal suspension, idler arms, stronger springs and idlers left over from the Nashorn build. These were also fitted.



Next up is replacing some of the missing details.

I've added antenna, next barrel cleaning equipment (from the panzer iv sprue) and replaced the stock spare tracks with metal ones and a restraining bar from styrene.



I also magnetised the sprocket caps for ease of removal

Starting to fall down the detail rabbit hole now. Found a replacement fire extinguisher and etch mount in my stash as well as the notek light I didn't use on my late stug and a piece of photo etch to make the convoy light. I'm going to use 1 or 2 nano LEDs to make it light up hopefully.



I swore never again but I've found the parts to do 7 Aber tool clamps. Annoyingly I can't find the remaining shapeways ones I had. I also said to myself at the begining of the build the moulded tools would get painted nicely but would stay. I can't see that happening now.

One of these days I want to have modeling skills as good as yours.

The rabbit hole falling is in full swing. Those moulded tools just had to go. Also the moulded grills, dremeled out and replaced with mesh I had from the e90.



With the tools off I did something I swore I'd never do again. Aber <EXPLETIVE DELETED> clamps.

They're still a massive pain in the bum but this time having a set of tweezers really helped.

I used some tamiya tools I had spare and reworked the henglong tools where needed

A little but more progress, nano led added to convoy light and notek light plumed in. Thinking I'll need to use a lower value resistor as it's looking a little dim.

Aber clamps , a good video from a man in japan shows how easy they are to make. Still can' t do them on the 1st attempt

I love the lights. They add so much eye candy to a tank.
