Newbie To The Hobby

Hey fellow tankers, I just recently got into this wonderful and fun hobby this past Christmas when I was gifted an Early Metal Taigen Tiger 1. I have since then challenged myself to make the best Tiger 1 that I can.
A little bit about me: I am a young teen who has a hobby obsession. I fly drones (racer/fpv and camera), I 3d print, I mod and paint nerf guns, I mod and play airsoft, and I build and paint/detail models. The model building is what lead me here when I came across this hobby looking for a good challenge. And a challenge it has been, as I have already taught myself how to airbrush, learned about a whole bunch of the crazy electronics you guys use, and have recently taken up the project of trying to make my Taigen 5:1 GBs work in my Tiger 1 (By this I mean give it torque and actually move it because they will not in stock configuration. I think I just need stronger motors). I look forward to chatting with all of you guys on the forums and get expert advise for the roadblocks I may hit as well as possibly give you guys some knowledge as well (although I doubt it because most of you seem to know what you are talking about :D )!

Hi, Welcome to the Forum
I think you have already met some of us over on RCU which brings me to asking where in the World are you? 1/16 gearboxes are in a class of their own,
As you are discovering in the world of engineering the input and output of our gearboxes bear no resemblance to real world gear ratios.
Indeed if it were not for the brave (And Rich) souls who first bought and discovered the strengths and weaknesses of them and then wrote of their discoveries we would be much closer to penury and the funny farm than we actually are,
This is one more reason that i thank the day I joined the Forum.
Please ask lots of questions BUT do please remember when its 3 in the morning and the blo*dy thing still does not work you are doing this for FUN :lolno: :lolno:

Where am I in the world? Answer: USA. I am in a military family and thus move constantly. I actually am currently in a move! I love the forums already; so much good info. I did create an account on the RCU a couple of weeks back and decided to create another on this forum website, just to squeeze all the information I can get out of you pro hobbyists!

If you look to the right side of the page you will see the date that a member joined the Forum alongside his/her Forum name and rank (Don't worry about the rank of any particular member it is directly related to the amount of times that a member has corresponded with the Forum )

I just figured out how to change my profile image. My tank looks similar to the one in the photo, just a little less brown and more like thicker lines that go in every direction. I will post a pic when I put it back together !
