Hi guys, just got back into the hobby after about 7b
years away.
60 something ex cavalry soldier , spent 18 years on Recce and 4 on challenger 1
During lockdown decided to drag my old heng long tiger 1 out.
Itran great until a mate knackered it, at which point it was put on a box and forgot about for 7 years.
On looking in the box I found I had ordered metal tracks, running gear and drive sprockets and idlers, black steel motors and an Rx18 board.
Tracks and running gear sprockets and motors all fitted (upgraded the strings and drop arms too)
Will be fitting the board and trying to get it running over the next few weeks, so expect lots of questions. REALY looking forward to chatting to you all.

Do we take it you forgot you'd purchased the metal upgrades?

Did I read that correctly, you used the upgraded suspension springs? To be honest, as you haven't raised the sprung weight by much with the black steel gears, you may benefit by only using four of those stiffer springs on the two furthest forward, and two furthest rearward wheels. That will cut excessive suspension compression on those wheel extremes by the pull of the tracks when driving, and the original softer springs will help give you a better ride on rough ground were you to re fit them on the other 12 wheels.

Yeah I bought all the bits but forgot I had them, it was a bit like Xmas when I opened the box.
Thanks for the spring tip.
Just not getting any power to the motors I tried 'jumping them from the smoke generator socket and they both worked but only in reverse!
I will fit the RX 18 board and see if that cures it. At least I know the motors work so the fault is somewhere else.

I came close to joining the army, it basically came down to the toss of a coin why I didn't.

Nearly 24 years in total, I joined when I was 15 1/2.

I've heard this before about you, Mick, but with a little more detail. The way I heard it, you were thinking about joining an Army in America. The only thing I haven't figured out is which army you were thinking about joining, Union or Confederate? Bwahahaha
