1/16 Diesel Narrow Gauge & Standard Gauge :)
The first trial into Garden Railways for me, i was making a small setup to test and have a play, but also so i could get my father into the hobby.
My father has always spoken of a garden railway, although i think he would love to really have a ride on setup!
Anyway i decided that since all our models are 1/16 (mainly) i would try downloading a 16mm diesel loco off thingiverse.
This worked very well, but i wasn't happy with the drivetrain.
So a couple nights ago i set about making a dual motor mount setup which could take 2s & 3s lipo to power a little narrow gauge train.
This morning i setup some cheap plastic 45mm rail in my parents garden and then gifted this little narrow gauge loco to my father.
He loved it, and has now asked for some rolling stock, he has to go any buy himself a rail track layout now haha!
So 1st indoor test on Friday evening (3s lipo)
https://youtu.be/9tAltVac0q0
Also the first outdoor test with the track unsecured laying on the grass (2s lipo)
https://youtu.be/JvmUWdJlcMk
My Dad was driving this time and had a huge grin on his face
The drive unit is mounted on a rubber isolator pad and screwed into the body so it has some flex and give and isolation for noises.
Next job is to get a sound unit setup for it and get some rolling stock.
Pictures
Drive unit using 16mm geared motors with direct drive couplings into 2.5:1 gear setup in axles which drive flanged couplings to mount the wheels
Flip front conversion to allow easy access to electrics and battery
Plastic primer, filler primer, red oxide and black stain paint slowly going on
Blue going on
Weathering started
I am not great and paint work, thats where my wife excels. But i was very pleased to design and get this put together for my father.
More Narrow gauge to come for sure as i would like something to be able to cart around my various 1/16 models in the garden.
Need to find some WW2 narrow gauge locos to draw up for correct era

How about the "Romney Hythe and Dymchurch" Narrow Gauge Railway's Armoured Train of WW2 that patrolled the Kent coast at the time of the feared invasion of England in 1940 ?
I think I am about to upset someone

Will, you put a smile on my dial.
So glad you could make your Dad happy.
On a side note, did you know the Russian word for train station is vokzal. Sounds rather like Vauxhall doesn't it...
An English theatre manager, Michael Maddox had experience of running theatres in Russia and he decided to export the concept of the pleasure garden in Vauxhall London, to St Petersburg in the 1780s. The new St Petersburg pleasure garden was called ‘Vokzal’, after the location of the London gardens.
In 1837 the first Russian railway ran from St Petersburg to the Pleasure Gardens and the station was called ‘Vokzal’. And this name became the generic word for all Russian stations. Coincidentally, three years later, a Russian delegation arrived to study the UK rail network. One of the stations they visited was the then Vauxhall terminus.

Hey,
that is really cool!
We at Wächtersbach looking also for an Train......we make a start with the LGB rails.....but an Ass...le ...steal all our rails from the ground..... (mabe because of the metal parts)
So now i see the plastik rails, from witch company they are?
And your work on the smal loc is great
Thats a good thing.
Maybe some LGB/Polar modyfied waggongs will work.

East Coast Railways in the UK sell plastic track layouts in ebay.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GARDEN-G-SCA ... SwykRbcbr-
I have no idea yet if it is good or not, but will find out when we get some.
Sorry to hear some ass stole your metal track. Hope you found them and taught them a lesson haha

Methinks the Gentleman was politely referring to ones lower rear orifice And not complaining of a Donkey going off the rails.
