Tamiya Light Unit TLU-01

Spotted this during a spot of aimless retail therapy on Ebay. Has anyone attempted to adapt this car/truck light unit for use in lightless Full-Option Tamiya tanks?
As far as I can tell, it wouldn't be difficult to splice the power supply into the existing 'Y' adaptor, and rig up some concealed manual on-off switch (like the one lurking behind the spare track on the Panzer IV turret.) :)

Just a thought...

Cheaper and easier to use a tiny electronic switch connected to s spare channel. There are a few on eBay. You'll also find much more comprehensive truck modules by GT Power (sound/lights/LEDs and leads etc) on eBay for less cash than a Tamiya. Well worth a look.

An electronic switch costs 2 euros and does the same, and you can toogle the lights from your radio.

Even a benedini micro is a better idea, 9 fully configurable light outputs in only one channel, from headlights, brake lights to blinkers or machine guns can be done.

:D I wasn't thinking of wasting any money on these, Wayne. There are plenty of other thingies out there for me to splash the cash on. :D I just wondered whether if anyone happened to have these as a spare from a car/truck project, and had tried to use them in a tank. Just a discussion point.
I'm aware of some of the true budget options (the RAD-ically basic ones); :lolno: but it's often a good idea to refresh an age-old topic re: the lack of lights on many Tamiya tanks, just in case someone has come up
with the perfect solution lately.
