Panzerjäger I - the build report

As a follow up of the existing Panzer I hull I tried something new (for me) – an open tank i.e. open fighting compartment.

Some pics of designing phase:

Some pics to remember the build of the lower hull.

Ah, excellent initiative. You gave us an hint a few weeks ago that it was coming along with a potential Wespe for the panzer II chassis. I like AFV with open compartment.

I can see this will be the Alkett version with the 5 side gun shield. A Skoda 47mm gun in 1/16 is a first and a model on its own. I am curious to see what RC function can be given to the gun while still keeping a realistic fighting compartment that can become a running diorama with accessories and figures.

thanks,

thanks,
Louis, you have recognized exactly! This is the early type of Panzerjäger I with the 5 sided shield, the later one used 7 shields.
The original Skoda gun is very complex constructed and therefore will be very filigree in 1/16. I didn't found a solution for the recoil in this tiny gun, but for elevation and traverse movement I found a drive (light gray colored in the drawing pictures); that'll be shown later ;)
Inside the compartment it is very cramped but I'll try to place a commander and a gunner next to the gun.

Cheers,
Freddy

Thanks guys, for your interest in this build!

This time I’m using the stronger gear motors for the tracks (dia. 25mm instead of 16mm) despite the less space inside the hull :S

Next is the gun shield:

Accessories of the fighting compartment…

At the hull outside are a lot more accessories necessary (hatches, rivets, hooks, vision ports).

Out of curiosity, I’ve sticked both hull parts together ;)

Now it’s up to the main part of the Panzerjäger I - the gun!

Overview of the gun parts:

Mounting the elevation drive (planetary gear motor Ø8mm, 30RPM at 4.2V)…

Again pictures of a roughly mounted Panzerjäger I

Because of very less space inside the hull I’m using the HL Tk5.3.
