Just wanted to know how some of you prefer to drive your tanks. I’ve always driven with both throttle and steering on the right stick and turret functions on the left stick. That’s just how it is with Heng Long, Taigen etc which is what I started with. Then when I got the ElMod board I had to drive with throttle on one stick and steering on the other. It felt different but I grew to like it. Felt realistic. Then I figured out how to program my radio to put all the driving on the right side stick but now I want to go back to the two stick system. It just felt more like I was driving a tank and I have more super slow maneuvering control.
How do you fine folks prefer to drive your tanks? I’m not really talking about the fast and furious IR tank battlers but more along the lines of backyard patrols where realistic driving is the enjoyment.

i prefer sice manny years the 2 stick mode.
That was the point why i never used the RX18...maybe in 1-2 tanks, the rest had an other system that allowes to drive with 2 sticks.
I also think you have more control and softer control to the tank maneuvering.

Now a realy good choise in the low price corner is the new HL TK 6.0S (the "S" is important), that system also allowes to change into 2 stick system, thats a good development.

How about this

I currently use the standard right stick to drive and left for the turret/cannon.

However, I can see the logic in having them split (right drive & turret rotation/left for turn and gun elevation) - question is how do I achieve this on my FlySky FS-i6 please?

If you are using a hobby grade radio system simply reallocate the channels to functions, as desired. Your Flysky makes this easy.

Regarding stick functions generally, if you come from cars or trucks you'll be used to steering and throttle being on different sticks but they will likely have fewer functions. I prefer to keep driving functions and turret functions on their own sticks but, as said, the HL v6S gives you the choice.

When l raced cars l used a wheel and used my right hand for throttle, a throw back to slot racing maybe, but it cost me money as only the top transmitters allowed left or right wheels. In the end, its whatever you are comfortable with.

All I did with my flysky was swap the various connections round on the receiver till the stick did what I wanted

I'm on S-Bus with mine but I found out that stick mode 4 is the one I want

So how do you like that driving method so far?

I have been using left stick for driving and right for turret for years... But then I tried left stick for throttle and right for steering, and I found it was way easier to control when crawling at super slow speeds, which is how I mostly drive.

Some other guys use left stick for left track throttle and right stick for right track throttle and are very happy too.

Not had much chnce to really play with it but it definitely feels more controlable - turns on the move a re smoother and more accurate
