For no reason whatsoever the N20 fuse on the Thinktank board blew the other day when I switched the tank on, so I lost all turret functions again. I put in my spare board and it all worked fine. Sent the blown one back to Thomas for repair yesterday.
I decided to test the gradient ability of the Tiger and set up a ramp. At 30 degrees the tank takes about 5 seconds to even think about moving, and more often than not it just stays where it is parked. It is painfully slow when it does start going, about 1/5th of the speed of an HL. By comparison my HL Jagdpanther spins the tracks and almost takes off at the top of the ramp?
On the flat, there is still a 5 second delay between tx input and tank movement. I have tried every permutation of jumper settings, but there is not enough power getting to the motors, even with the soundblaster and the top hull removed. When the turret and soundcard are connected they sap even more power from the Thinktank board.
A 3900mah battery last about 15 mins, but 15 mins with a 2mph tank can seem like hours!
So what have I checked?
All wires and connections are A1 (I know my way around these circuits like the back of my hand now).
The gearboxes and tracks run smooth.
The tank battery is fully charged.
The tx battery is fully charged.
It is running HL white caps (Thomas says these are ok).
It is running HL standard metal gearboxes.
It has metal everything, and weighs about 18kg.
So why does an RX14 power it around effortlessly, and an Elmod struggles?
Tonight I tried a friends 8.4v battery, and it improved things ever so slightly, so I may invest in some 9.6v items (Elmod boards will take 12v).
I have also joined the Panzerkitten forum as one of the Elmod tecchies is a moderator on there. I am hoping that he may have some answers!
