Hi,
This posting is to show the electronics.

Lots of room here and nothing fancy. So, what we have are;

- Two Metal Gearbox with 370 Brushed Motor for WPL 1633, connected to L and R engine connectors on TK40.
- Two steering servos
- Clark TK40 control board
- HL speaker
- Flysky FSIA10b 10 channel receiver with S.Bus connector
- DS04-NFC 360 Degree Continuous Rotation Servo for FLW200 rotation
- Vex robotics gear set for rotation
- Micro servo for gun elevation
- Zippy 1800 battery

- Flysky FS16X 10 channel emitter has following Auxiliary channel (6 to 10) settings with TK40 S.Bus. Configuration is a bit complicated to figure out for a wheeled vehicle with a gun turret. I am not that agile with the sticks so maximizing switch assignments of many functions improves user experience for me.

So here is the configuration;
o VRA knob on Channel 5 for steering servos connected directly to receiver with Y connector. Use of VRA Knob as a driver's wheel is easier and more stable than TK40 stick control.
o VRB knob on Channel 6 for gun elevation servo connected directly to receiver. VRB knob is easier and more stable than TK40 stick control.
o Swa switch on Channel 7 (gearbox clutch, lights)
o Swb switch on Channel 8 (engine start, stop)
o Swd switch on channel 9 (switch Up for machine gun 2 used for MG-3 that will be installed at the rear of the vehicle)
o Swc switch on channel 10 (switch Up for machine gun 1 used for GMG automatic Grenade Launcher, Middle for silence, Down for big gun/recoil but there is none on this model)
o Right stick up-down for engines forward/backward
o Right stick right-left for FLW200 rotation
o Left stick unused

The above settings allow for the turret to be operated and for the shooting of the gun while driving the vehicle. Something you cannot do if you keep the Clark settings where you need to stop the vehicle and use both sticks to operate the gun alone. It gets difficult to coordinate the gun with only 2 hands with sticks requiring specific positions to trigger something to happen.

The translucid gun flash will disappear once the resin gun is primed and painted. With a very fast rate of fire of 340 rounds per minute, the GMG 40mm automatic grenade launcher is well represented using the machine gun 1 flash and sound of the TK40 control board.

I always give my model working front and tail lights using cheap $2 pre-wired with resistor RC LED set from eBay China bought by the dozen. Also used for gun flash.

8O 8O :O ...and the impossible will take a little longer :D I think I would have given up at the interlocking joints phase, Louis. Like you, I would have filled the gaps with bits of sprue (I did on the Cromwell turret)- and then put it aside...possibly forever :problem:
This is also the most mechanically complex model I've see on the Forum, I think. I suspect many of us would have thrown in the towel with this one, when looking at the heap of parts- beautiful though the suspension, and transmission, parts look. What I love about your builds, apart from the superb workmanship, is that the impossible doesn't appear to daunt you in the slightest.
This is, as ever, truly inspirational work, Louis.

Thank you Sub and 43rdRecceReg ! It is a great pleasure to make this build and probably help a few future builders on this model with ideas and experience. But i can say that the more you scratch build, the easier it becomes. After a few Ludwig kits, not much scares me now.

This post is for the detailing of the side bins.

The parts provided by Ludwig are enough to create the overall shape of the bins. Many builders will be satisfied and tempted to sand these and leave them shiny and sleek but it is not accurate.

The bins have trap doors at the top which are not provided by Ludwig. Notice the mysterious black latches.

The contour of the trap doors are highly visible and provide a function for the bins which otherwise would look like some kind of flotation device.

A lot of study is required to understand the concept and bring them to a more accurate rendition. Plasticard sheet, Meng nuts and 1mm brass rod are used to reproduce the trap doors and many features seen all around them.

Heng Long Leopard 2A6 smoke grenade dischargers coming with the accessory set were bought from Toucanhobby on eBay, its pretty much the only affordable game in town for these. The 2A6 set also comes with mirrors and other items that are useful.

Its a lot of the little things that bring a model to life. And just by looking at these pictures, i am noticing many things that i forgot, and taking some notes for tomorrows session.

The same area on the right side seems to be an open bin of some kind. The only visible features are 3 fabric slings that would be used to hold in place whatever is inside, probably as tarp.

I would like to go back to what you said 43rdRecceReg. As you know, the main success factors of a Ludwig build are the use of superglue and sanding, sanding and more sanding. Now, in order for the builder to survive the process, the idea is to be efficient at it to avoid despair. Need the right tools and also keep costs under control. Each of my builds require about 20 superglue packs and 20 Professional nail files. So, need to buy these in lots.

I like those small superglue tubes. By the time the tip starts to want to clog, its empty and i just open a new one. Its also low fumes.

RC 1/16 TPz-1 A8 Fuchs 6x6 Transportpanzer with FLW 200 build
While superglue can be purchased in lots at the Dollar Store for a real bargain, the use of nail files can become expensive if you rely on specialized brands from Hobby stores or pharmacies. I buy these thick and efficient Mackartt and Lictin nail file boards sold in packs on Amazon for a third of the cost, with free shipping. They come in different grits. My most popular is the combined 120/240 for building, and the 400 grit for polishing. They do a good job on brass and aluminum as well.

And to avoid losing fingers on Polystyrol plates, need a strong cutter. I recommend use of Excel Deburring blades. Use of small xacto cutters are good for fine 1/35 plastic kits, not a Ludwig build. Something bad will happen if you do. The tip of the small x-acto blade will break, go sideways or else. The deburring blades are large and strong, not too pointed, and you need the right large handle for them. Replace the blade at the start of every build when removing parts off the Ludwig sprues but a more duller blade later on is not a bad thing as it avoids cutting yourself deeply all the time while manipulating parts. These blades are available in bulk on Amazon for a good bargain and a lifetime of scratch modelling for about US $30.

Hi,

Presenting the roof in 3 parts.

This post is for the roof of the cabin.

I purchased the AFV-Model resin Fuchs cupola. It is ok but does not open and missing some details. I added the brass rod for the hinge and added a ring to the base to beef it up a bit, it was too thin.

Ludwig only provides two inaccurate parts for the louvers. The whole thing need to be scratch built using reference pictures. It took me a few hours but it seems close.

Many Tpz-1 are equipped with a Satcom antenna behind the engine grills at the front. This antenna looks too cool not to repro for my model.

The plates are cut using the few reference pictures available. Few guys actually mount on top of this vehicle to picture the overall layout of them. Pictures on http://www.panzer-modell.de were extremely valuable for this build, but there were still some gaps in references.

My interpretation of the layout of the anti skid plates. Not perfect but it looks good. As they are on self stick material, they can be removed and reworked as necessary. I am still seeing many imperfections that need replacement or better alignment. These are an important feature of the vehicle.

The Coronavirus pandemic is slowing down international shipping tremendously for any parts that need to be ordered during the build. It is undetermined when I will get them.
