RC Tank Warfare community hobby forum

What is going on ? Two I assume unrelated people whose first entry's are questions for help,
One about a Power Boat and the other about an Aircraft
Two points to mention, This is a Forum that deals with Radio Controlled TANKS,
Boats, Trucks, and Aircraft are a side issue usually a secondary part of one or more members of the Forum although Trucks have gained a large following recently.
The hint is in the title RC TANK WARFARE and the other point is that new members are encouraged indeed expected to start with a brief resume using the "Introduce yourself" section of the Forum And then we will give a thought to answering questions.

I agree, i am also a member on MSUK forum which deals with all forms of RC....(i did purchase my tank from a fellow member)
And had a question on invreasing power from BB unit and the first reply was to postvin the introduction thread, before it would be considered......

To be honest, I think it is only good manners to give a little something before posting an I want, like paying the boat man.

Well, the two offending posts have been moved to the correct sections of the forum.

So, did anyone else notice they were both written in the same style, only a few minutes apart, although by "different" new members

Nice to see I'm not the only one noticing this trend. I've always thought it was bad manners to sign up on a forum with a hand out asking for help with something right off the bat. Let alone the fact that the sign up instructions are pretty clear about posting an introduction. I remember the warm feeling I got when I first joined this forum, and it really hasn't changed. Lots of really fantastic people here, all willing to help someone out. Maybe the newer members only want someone to fix something they broke and don't really care about making friends?

I've seen it done on real car forums that I've checked out to get torque settings for particular car head bolts, that I'm working on for friends, neighbours etc. I've only needed that particular information, but I've joined, said hi, then posted some advice to questions people have asked, after looking to see if I could give something back, then I've asked my question.

For me, I couldn't do it any other way.

I agree with all that had been stated in this thread. Kind and courteous goes a long way. So many times I've had a fellow member take time out of their busy life to help and assist me with electronics issues etc... for years on this forum.

To jump right in and grab a seat at the table, help yourself to dessert and leave your plate doesn't sit well with me.

But some do honestly from my experience run into a hobby issue and need help, join the forum and quickly realize its proper to formally introduce ones self....Most stand corrected and do so.

Manners and kindness are a matter of parenting education.
The older of us should therefore first look in the mirror.....

The email that everyone gets when they sign up clearly states that the first post that anyone should make is in the introduction thread, 99% of members are only too happy to do this simple thing. The 1% either cannot read, or have the 'I want' mentality. The 99% get all the answers and advice that they ask for, the 1% get the consequence of their action.
