I have all metal version of Leo 2a6 from Taigen. Whenever I try to run it is so noisy that having onboard sound is pretty much pointless. I also have 3:1 gearbox (steel gears) from henglong and it is way more quiet.
The taigen gearbox noise is really deafening, its like high pitch rattling sounds that when it stops you need few moments to start hearing again.
I suspect gear meshing problem however there are many gears and have no idea to check mesh on each one.
Maybe someone have some other ideas?

4:1 are noisy as hell. Try a little lubricant on the cogs. It's the black metal cogs. I think they are too crude. Not precision made. Rough surfaces. Anything else is more silent. Like Mato gearbox. The same power but far less noise.

Thank you for suggestion. I put some bike grease on it on the first day they arrived but it didn't seem to help much. I've put just now more grease but honestly can't tell the difference.
Interesting thing I noticed: they dont make much noise at very low rpm let say 0-15% of the throttle, from 15%-30% noisy I can'y bear it but from 30%-100% not too bad again. So there is section of the throttle when they make lots of noise.
All that marketing bull(stuff) about steel gears and bearing on each axel is worthless when the gears cant mesh properly. At this moment I can say henglong did way better job.

Is there any chance it will get more quiet after some time when the gears sand off some of their teeth?

If you are sure the noise is from the gears and not the mesh of the track on the drive wheel, l suggest you remove each motor/gearbox in turn, release the motor and then you can turn the gearbox by hand. That should allow you to identify where the problem is. Fixing out of mesh gears when there is no adjustment is another matter but if the unit is new, why not return it?

I took gearboxes out of the metal hull and test them outside, noise got even worse.

I bought it as a metal lower hull with gearboxes installed, problem is I already modified the lower hull so cant return it.The other thing is I'm not sure if this is normal and should I just consider to make some enclosure and forget about it or there might be something I can do.
I will try removing motor and turn it by hand to find where the problem is.

I'm not a fan of this tip, but it may be advisable in this instance. As those gears haven't got the correct tooth shape.
Some people run in their gearboxes with some fine value grinding paste on the gears. Personally I'd do this with the motors removed and put a drill on the drive shafts.
But before doing this, check for any damaged gear teeth.
And lastly, even though you've modified the chassis, I'm sure that you should be able to come to an arrangement with the vendor where you just swap boxes. Depending on who the vendor was.

Mine don't have bearings in all axles. Just the drive axle, unlike Mato which have. Plus the pinion on the drive shaft is secured by a pin that breaks off under heavy load.
To answer your question about time, no it doesn't get quiter with time.

Thank you guys for all the suggestions. I will double check all gears for damages and if nothing comes up I will try with the abrasive compound and hope that will help.
