Israeli Centurion - Sho’t Kal C (Gimel) - IDF 1980s - Build
Re: Israeli Centurion - Shot Kal Gimel - IDF 1980s - Build
Hi, as this is a build, this post presenting the first primer coat.
The hull is prepped for priming.
The first coat of Tamiya primer is applied.
The model is thoroughly inspected for issues so that they can be corrected before the second primer coat.
Overall it is not too bad.
Close up pictures of every areas of the primed model are taken and inspected. Corrective measures will be applied. This step is very important as it will greatly improve the look of the model and its ability to sustain close up inspections by unforgiving modellers on the web.

The primer is important to seal the glue, putty and plasticard with an oil based primer before application of the acrylic coats. With this grey primer, it is much easier to notice issues than when the model was white.
More close ups of the primer coat, not bad.

Phenomenal work! Very little to tidy up after the primer. simply awesome job. Much like Barry's work, hard to realize it's a scale model....
Tanks alot....

Your attention to detail is genuinely phenominal! Yours is no longer a model - it's a genuine work of art Thank you for sharing (I will never show you a pic of my stuff - looks like mud compared to your work )
Always on the search for Bootneck-proof kit

The real thing isnt too far away I guess?
Top Notch. I really like all the detail you put into this one.

Thank you, i just try to repro with basic tools everything that i see in close up pictures of the real thing, and it somehow ends up looking like it...Soeren wrote:The real thing isnt too far away I guess
Thank you, i started modelling at 6 with different areas of focus and general skill improvements over the years/decades. We all have our requirements. As you can see, i am now into scale modelling but with a desire to make them come alive with RC. There is no way this baby is going to go "jungle busting" in the backyard. That would rake everything and destroy it. No, this is an IDF tank, it fits perfectly running it in the desert...Black Knight wrote:Your attention to detail is genuinely phenominal! Thanks Carl, but no, no, no, nothing comes close to Barry's work. As an example, i spent maybe 10$ and 30 minutes putting Shapeways latches on those bins. Not the totally accurate model of latches but looking good. Barry would surely have spent one month hand crafting each of those 22 latches in brass with working features, hinges and opening bins...c.rainford73 wrote:Much like Barry's work
Here the second grey primer coat is applied. The tank is now ready to be given its IDF Sand Grey and Golan earth pigments.
Next time you see it, it will be a desert tank.
