1/16 BK1124 / BK1125 Bronkater
Am curious if there are any here on the forum interested in merging the best of 1/16 AFV modeling with RC boats: the BK1124 & BK1125 Russian Bronkater.
For those on Facebook, feel free to join our Soviet Gunboats group that we've created for research, component development & builds, not just for the Bronkater series but also the G5 & other small coastal & river gunboats & monitors.
I've always been interested in the beast for years and helped convince Christian Capurro of MTB Hulls to make a 1/16 hull. His excellent 2 piece GRP hull sells for a very reasonable price. MTB also offers a G-5 hull in the same scale.
One of our members who has a G5 fetish - he's building several in different scale at the moment - has a Shapeways store offering guns, turrets & fittings used on these craft. With Clark's upcoming BT-7, it appears we may also have a complete T-26-4 76mm turret in the works, too.

Any boat that has a T34 turret on the foredeck get my interest !!
Much more hard core than a PT boat, but waaaaaay less well known.

Sorry, I wasn't that captivated when you said "boats," but when I saw that turret, you've now got my full attention

Lovely !
I was lucky to snatch a MIG 1/35 kit of the Bronetaker on eBay in January. I was quite intrigued as I never saw this boat or kit before. I purchased it by curiosity as it was relatively cheap for a big resin kit (ie $160 I think), and I found out later that it is a rare collector item. Quality is extremely good, resin, paperwork and presentation. Here are some pictures.
Regards, Louis

MIG makes an excellent kit from the what I've heard. Am truly surprised Italeri hasn't given it consideration but then it's not PT-109. I failed to mention MTB Hulls also now offers a 1/35 BK1124 hull.
Given the times, the Bronkater was armed with whatever was available in factory parts or salvage depots: T-22, T-28, T-34/76 & T-34/85 turrets, Katyusha, DShk .50cal & even mines for coastal use. They served on all major rivers, were transported by rail & truck & made a name for themselves during the Battle of Stalingrad.
Here are the links to MTB & Alex's Shapeways store for reference. Trumpeter's T-34 kits are routinely used as well but there's a Russian eBay supplier for a resin T-34/76 turret.

1/16 BK1124 Kit Coming This Spring
Am resurrecting an old post but wanted to let all know a 1/16 BK1124 should be arriving late Spring. Kit is currently in design phase by Cactus Model, the same chap I developed the 1/18 Major sternwheeler kit with, & I expect to see proto build sometime next month after CNY holiday.
Will post more details once we have more to share.

Now that's interesting news! At 1/16, this is likely to be a large beastie. Although I don't model ships (I have to set a limit somewhere), I found the Shapeways page linked above in 2019 interesting. Who would think one could find a 3D printed seventeenth century galley stove.

They told Sergei, "Just because you have a spare KV-2 turret doesn't mean you should use it."
Sergei never listens.
