doing a bit of research on the firefly/mayflys and does anyone now what this is

bit where a chain would go?

maybe try to get some "in action" pics and work it out from them

I have about 3 different ideas for this and was hoping for a bit of a debate on it

so norse what do you reckon any ideas other than "bit where chain would go" as it's a possibility

I have a modellers guide to the sherman book that is quite detailed in most area's of the sherman,but even in this book it says they do not know the purpose of the comb like device on the nose.
Someone must know surely?

the comb on the sherman was put on so in years to come people would ask this very question, lol  ,
