what was it? first i thought it was the M18 hallcat but people say its not technically a tank so it dont count, also i heard that the comet was the fastest tank? as it had a modified engine from a spitfire which at high speeds on rough areas made the tank go airbourne lol
but also heard that the stuart was the fastest tank of WW2? because it was an actual tank unlike the hellcat? anyone want to shead some light on this?

Just did a quick google, the hell cat was indeed the fastest amoured tracked vehical of WWII with a top speed of 60mph. The Cromwell was the fastest British tank with a speed of 40mph, it was developed from the cruiser.

60mph bloody hell! tho it was lightly armoured really, unlike the cromwell which was a midish heavy battle tank

i didnt think the Helcat was actually to bad on armour, i watched one of the restoration programs and they spoke to the commander of one and he talked about his encounters with enemy tanks.. and taking and deflecting hits ect. He also said is was fairly frightening when shells and MG fire went over there heads in the Open top turret LOL!

Was that the same program where the surviving Hellcat crewman happened to live a few miles away from the factory where they were restoring it? That was great, the old guy looked like he was really enjoying himself that day charging around in the same tanks he'd crewed 60 years earlier. He told how they had to leave the engine running in the winter to stop it freezing up, but due to the radial engine sucking air in through the tank it was actually colder inside it than outside, so they would sleep outside on the ground!

yeh i think that was the show

was really good, gota love tank overhaul

the M18 hellcats armour was good but ofcourse not the best, itwas because of the light armour and good armour that it could zoom about everywhere, remember on that show where they said that the tank was so easy to steer that you could actually dodge shells!
