As I like a punt now and again, I found some metal axles for £28 each & thought sod it.
The axles are for a Tamiya Bruser clone called the HG P407, the metal chassis is also available for £30 so I ordered one as well.
Today the front axle arrived & it looks spit on for the jeepImage
New axle next to the version from the kit

The width of the axle is 190mm flange to flange.

The flanges are different, as in no hex, there are 3 drive screws...

Well chaps, I’ve just got home from work & the mat on the front doorstep looked a bit bulbous.
Cunningly (?) hidden underneath it was the chassis!! Lol no..
It’s all bolted together & imho shouldn’t be too hard to make fit, sure I’ll have to fanny about a little but it’s a good starter for tenImage
It’s exactly the right width at the back & narrower at the front
Image
Although shape isn’t perfect it’s not a million miles out
Image
I’m just waiting for the axle mounting parts to arrive now..
Cheers

Here ya go, Wayne. Only thing between you and this great Kubel is 160 pounds. @)

And I'll really be watching this one, especially if you do a kubel. I have the type 82 kit, but I also have the balloon tire version that comes pre-assembled, and this looks like it might work for that one. But there are many projects in line ahead of it. :/
