Hello guys, just wondering what MG's us Brits and our commonwealth chums used to use on our cupolas.

Especially in the case of the Sherman, we all used them, even the Russians did, but, did we all use the American guns?

Or, did us allies that used Sherman's use our own variants, some or all the time?

The fireflies (at least some) had 50cals when they arrived in Normandy but they were removed very quickly.

Why were they removed? Did they replace them or just not bother with cupola guns?

Brit. made tanks (Cromwell etc.,) and armoured cars tended to use .30 Brownings, along with the BESA 7.92mm where a co-axial secondary MG was needed... apparently. The BESA could use captured German 7.92 Mauser rounds, which made economic and practical sense. The German ammo belts had to be replaced, however.

I'm trying to work out a shopping list for shapeways, and make full use of their one price for shipping ;)

I may just get some Vickers anyway, I rather like their look, and I'm sure I'll work out a use for them :D
