Hello All, I am new to this forum. I have a 1/24 Airsoft Abrams, and a 1/6 M5 Stuart.

I will be converting my M5 Stuart to the 2.4ghz Heng Long controller and receiver.

I have a 75ft T.V. antenna in my yard. I have my FPV antenna mounted to it and it lets me see hundreds of yards. I'd also like to be able to put a remote antenna for my transmitter so that I don't have any dead zones in my yard. Any ideas on getting the very best range?

I started developing for Flightsims and Games at a very young age 15.

Friends call me a mad scientist, but I prefer techno-mage lol.

If I do a direct cable run, I have to find the balance between vantage benefit and signal lose from attenuation. The best cables to use could get expensive quick. Wondering if there is any kind of signal repeater or alternate method I should consider.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! Don't run this fellow away! He is skilled in electrics and electronics and has a 1/6 Stuart. I would like to hear his ideas on replacement motors for that tank to work with some of our modern MFUs, Tech-Com, pictures of your work when you get a chance, please. We like to chat and kick the virtual road wheels around here.

Just wish I could answer his question, what I know about boosting signals can be written on the back of a postage stamp

Is any of this helping? If you Google your question about increasing the range of your signal you will find many answers, mostly videos. Some sound rather suspect, like removing two 1.5v batteries and wiring in a 9v cell. May help for a minute or two?? However, if its possible the answer will be out there.

Did you say what frequency you are using? If 2.4ghz then the stock antenna will be very short to match the wave length. I think l recall (check this!) that multiples of the wave length can be used. Height will help to clear obstacles so you for alternatively sit on a church spire.

One thing l am sure of - pointing the antenna towards the model improves reception. Probably read that on a forum so it must be right

Hi, You may find that a 75 foot high Aerial mast is too high,
I would experiment with an Aerial at different heights.
I used a 27 foot telescopic Aerial mast with a 9 foot whip on top to keep in contact with a DHC2 Beaver while it was flying around Nepal which is allegedly quite hilly,
The Transceiver was a VHF/FM Military C47,
I transmitted and received a surprisingly good signal considering the terrain and the distance,
The real challenge was keeping in touch every evening with our HQ in Singapore from Nepal,
That required a "Skywave" Aerial which stretched from one side of the Parade Ground to the other,
I would like to offer my belated thanks to half a dozen Ghurkas for their help in achieving that impressive erection
VHF/FM was never going to do it so I used a Military HF/AM C11 which had an annoyingly noisy signal amplifier but even then I could not "Talk" to Singapore but had to use Morse.
The hardest part of working a Military Net in Nepal was the knowledge that both India and China were monitoring our every transmission.
So if you have access to an HF/AM 27 MHz Tank and Transceiver you stand a much better chance of extending the range of the signal than using 2.4 GHz.

Doesn't Wifi work on 2.4GHz, in which case would a remote booster system work better than trying up the transmitter signal strength?

Here is what I was thinking.
There are 2W 2.4ghz Boosters that cost $14. Some people install them directly on top of their controllers, which I am betting is illegal.
However, I would attach it somewhere between my lengths of coax cable, so that the antenna at the end is still outputting legal levels.

I would place the Antenna at a height to get the most range, not necessarily at 75ft, I hate climbing the thing lol
