Look what I found in my local Pound Land.

Ok, it's non stick so I shouldn't think it'll take paint, but, look at the colour. The mesh is just under 5mm, so, very close to 3 inches in 16th scale

And the "weave" looks good in my honest opinion.

It does bend, need to work out how to make it keep a detailed shape, as it's heat resistant up to 260 degrees C/500 degrees F

If its just a pound each I'd buy it up and sell it on eBay! Good find.

I was out shopping with a neighbour, when I found it, they said Pound Land has been selling them for years, I guess I never really look in the cooking section lol.

Try putting over a block & use a blow lamp? You'll need to be careful not to burn it but should work: I look forward to seeing the results!

Don't be silly, that would be boring. A massive fire on the other hand....

I'd recommend trying this down the bottom of the garden!

Try using a hair drier instead. Any heat may cause shrinkage too.

Doubt a hair dryer will go hot enough. But, I have a heat shrink gun and a hot air gun used for stripping paint

I've used good hair drivers successfully to do this sort of job, including heat shrink tubing, but a hot air gun should work too. Don't get too fierce though, it might shrivel up!

Try a hairdryer first, just in case, high heat setting but low fan setting so you get it hot. Can you let us all know how you get on - could be on a few shopping lists! Good luck

Well, after cutting off approximately a 3 inch (8cm) square.
I found it does need a fair bit of heat to make it hold a reasonable bend. I held it with tongs no more than 3 inches above a gas hob ring, I used the smallest ring.
After bending and holding it over a bit of wood I immediately ran it under the cold tap.

A couple of times the flames tried to catch the mesh, and I can say, whatever the slight fumes were, they are VERY nasty. Not something to be done in a closed environment, and not without a respirator. It is probably silicon based from the smell.

Mind you, the slight flame scorching isn't so bad.
