What is the barrel length for a Tiger1? Also is a king tiger the same length? Measured from the mantel in 1/16 scale how many mm for each one, I am retro fitting a aluminum barrel to my creeping death turret, they have provided the line bore spec's,and the turndown diameter, but not the Length of the barrel.I need to know the length from mantel to muzzle brake.SAX

Hello SAX

For a 1:35 scale early pattern muzzle brake Tiger I, the barrel length from the leading edge of the mantlet barrel guard to the front face of the muzzle brake is 80 mm.

I wouldn't trust any specs from an HL as they reworked the turret dimensions and location on the hull so much to install the airsoft system, things really aren't what they appear to be. :o Perhaps someone can spec a Tamiya Tiger I for you. It would be far more accurate.

Best regards,

David

At this point I wanted to be long on barrel length,it is much easier to trim down than to streech aluminum.I have a barrel length of 295mm from mantel to barrel/brake end. If your at 80mm in 1/35 scale then I am to long?  And thank you David for the information, sax

According to Thomas Jentz & Hilary Doyle's book on Tigers the gun overhang from the front of the tank (no measurements given from mantle) for a Tiger H1 dated 1943 was 2,171mm (135.6 mm at 1/16) and for a Tiger E feb 1944 was 2,116mm (132mm at 1/16).  My HL with the aluminium extension piece works out around 136mm so I reckon the after market guys got it pretty well spot on for an early tiger.

Hi Guys dont know where you are getting your diamensions from but the main gun The 88mm KwK 36 L/56 it works out 88mm x 56 =4928 mm for barrel length but some of this is inside the tank and not sure if the breach is part of the calculation .see here for more info  http://www.alanhamby.com/history.shtml

Hi the length of the barrel on the tiger 1 from mantlet to muzzle brake is 200mm I have the hl model but with the extension fitted I also have a forces of valour kt and the length of the barrel on that is 230mm from the end of hogs head mantlet to the muzzle brake hope this helps.

Thanks to everybody for the information,at this piont I am at 245mm and will cut down the coupling on my barrel another 10mm to acheive total length of 235mm.Because of the recoil of the inner airsoft barrel inside the Tamiya outer barrel I have to be a little long, the way I machined the barrels,I tapered the inside of the Tamiya barrel at full recoil to mate with the stock Tamiya bore.I started to line bore the full length but found that the stock I.D. was 6.125mm which would allow the 6mm ammo to exit the Tamiya barrel with no restriction. This may or may not help the accuracy of the airsoft gun.And if it creates some friction or delay in the projectile I can always line bore the intire length. Thanks again for all the info SAX
