Hi has anyone used this filament? It is supposed to be stronger and less brittle than standard PLA so I have ordered some to check out the claims.

I'm very pleased with this filament. I'm printing at 198 degrees and the prints are very crisp and clean, the support material is easily removed and the prints seem stronger than standard PLA. So far so good.

Just printed the upper part of the turret, nice crisp print, and the support material came out quickly and cleanly with minimal effort

Is there some sort of magic to getting layers of this filament to adhere to each other? I have just started playing with my Creality Ender 3 Pro printer (Christmas gift from my dear wife) and having seen Alwyn's enthusiastic recommendation for this filament I bought some black to try.

It's fair to say I am on a very steep learning curve with 3D printing as this is my first one, & the prints I have produced so far (only with this filament) look mostly ok but have limited strength and will pull apart very easily between the layers, any suggestions about where I am going wrong?

I am using Cura 3.6 with settings 'out of the box' for Ender 3, I have tried printing at 200C and 210C without any significant difference being noticed.

What thickness layers?

You probably need to up the print head temperature, I run at 198C but you may need to increase from that depending on the batch of filament. It's best to experiment running small prints at different temperatures. Also print speed plays a major role and I print at 60mm/sec but if this gives poor adhesion then I suggest dropping the print speed to 40mm/sec or even 30mm/sec. Basically the lower print speed gives the head more time to heat up the layer onto which the new layer is being deposited and allow the new layer to bind better.

It's alos possible that the sensor on your print head may be slightly over-reporting the head temperature, test runs at different temperatures will enable you to get the best temperature for the filament on your printer. You definitely shouldn't be able to pull the layers apart so something is wrong.

Sorry I was too quick and didn't read your post about the temps you are using, 200C should give a good print so I don't understand why you are having problems, how big a print are you doing or are you printing multiple items? Sometimes if the print cools before the next layer is deposited e.g. if the printer is smoothing a top layer and returns to deposit the next layer on a different part of the print then you can get layer adhesion failure but that shouldn't be happening. It is possible you have got a bad batch of filament so I would try with a different filament and if the filament is faulty then contact the supplier for a replacement or refund
