big wobbly antenna

HI just got my first tank a 1/16th challenger 2 for a winter project
i really like the look of having two big flexi antenna on the tank now the 2.4ghz one that came with my tank is short and stubby .so my question is how long should i make replacements ? anybody know how long they are on real tanks ??

That 2.4ghz antennae is out of sight so you can fit any type you like on the outside, just for decoration. Google for images and just copy an example you like.

I like .020 (.5mm) styrene rod from Evergreen. It's nice and floppy and you give it a couple passes with a black sharpie and they look good. The base is just styrene rod covered with black shrink tube and for height I just looked at images online and made a guess. So far no one has told they're wrong. @)

British Army Vehicle Aerials comprise 3 hollow copper sections each one being 3 feet in length that screw together giving a maximum length of 9 feet usually painted matt green.
They can be mounted on top of a 21 feet telescopic aerial when the radio is used as a ground station.

And, if what you're looking for is a lot of antennae movement when the tank is moving, you might consider using a short length of guitar string at the base. You can usually purchase a pack of several diameters from a music store and see what diameter looks right to you.
