I bought a 1/24th scale Losi crawler so I could use the drivetrain in a Tamiya static kubelwagen kit and it's a very close fit. A guy I know has already built one and he said you only need small spacers to get the kit rims out to the right place, like one eighth inch on each side. The kubal and the Jeep were pretty close in size so I don't see any reason why you couldn't use 1/24th scale crawler axles for a Jeep.
