Well that's the first one turned up, crushed box in a thin plastic bag, all the way from Singapore. To the model's credit, its in one piece.

Good news? Not much, same excuse for a transmitter/receiver, steering servo and gutless overspend motor etc. Never mind, that was going to the bin anyway. But the plastic stuff is good? No, disappointingly lacking crisp molds and poor detail. Molded tow shackles, molded clumsy looking wipers on screen, and to top it all, 'WAR FRONT LINE' graphics all over the cab. Yes, l know we all respray them but it just increases the the primer needed to cover up the stupidity!

I'm busy on low loaders at the mo' but I'll.keep you up to date as it gets stripped.

Sorry, no pics, the forum software and my phone seem to have fallen out ? Capri - these are the new, just out Russian ZIL trucks, not the HL/WPL ones, as you'd see if the pics came through

Lets try again, but this time on my laptop (just wiping off the dust!).

No, still doesn't work... pic size too big! I've posted a few pics on the forum no problem then suddenly this - 2mb file size limit. Knocked the file down to 1.9mb and tried again.

Too big, file size limit now 350kb!!! (actually says 350 KiB ???)

Is there anyone here who would like to explain whats happening? I have lots of nice photos to show but it seems the forum has suddenly shut me out. Mods / Admin??? HELP :'(

Use imgur or you can use Flickr if you share the bbcode or there are other photo sharing services
Look up posting picture on the forum search and you will find the details you require.

Yes, but how did l post the 3 pics further up this thread. Not to worry... Update!

The ZIL157 is well photographed and a Google image search returns many hundreds of fine reference pictures. However, all is not well. Of those many hundreds of images, l could find only one with horizontal front grill bars, and then not like those on our model, and worse still, only one that had the sculptured, wraparound front wheel arches. All the hundreds of other images showed 'flat' steel aches simply bent over the curve of the front wheel. Our model looks like a refined, maybe commercial example. Also, all the cabs l looked at had a rear screen.

The rear screen is a complex shape but I've managed to cut this into the cab for glazing. The grille I'll fabricate from brass rod and the wheel arch I'll leave in this model but modify the other one, still in the post.

ALL the electrics have been binned and the rest of the model has been sprayed using Halfords green camouflage rattle can - great cover and very matt. Yes, l managed to find a 10min gap in the rain today but hey, that's better than having your paint store cooked by the crazy heat we've had.

So...the body mods are complete and the base colour is down. Tomorrow I'll fit the new esc, servo, receiver, sound card and speaker. With a decent esc the kit motor is almost acceptable! I then await the arrival of detailing parts and decals, though Russian trucks didn't appear to carry much in the way of insignia - oh they do on the model box lids but in reality they didnt
