I just scratched them with a sharp iron pen.
Next I used matt black enamel paint which I washed with terpentine.
A bit more black or more terpentine, just what I wanted the color to be.
Filled the scratches with a tiny brush for the best I could.
Made the lower surfaces of the crates looking like they've been on a wet surface.....at least it was my intention to make it look like that....

On the Taigen, the hinge from the rear right grid, interferes with the wooden ammo box.
Due to the hinge the crate keeps wobbling on the rear deck.
Going to make some shelves to store the crates onto......just out of boredom......and I do not know if I will keep it this way anyway

Enough clearance around the hinge.
Must age the shelves a bit, and then decide whether they stay on not
