big of a strange one this, i have fitted my old KT with impact TU boxes, fitted Graupner speed 400 motors with RX18 board. On grass the tank turns ok one way but struggles the other, its a bit better in reverse.....anyone come across this before? both gearboxes turn as smooth as each other and both tracks seem in line. It did struggle before with RS380 motors. I have really heavy metal impact tracks. Could i have the tracks to tight? then look ok and run on top of the road wheels.....

on concrete the tank turns ok, but still slower than the other way

Hi Sounds like one side is tighten up when turning check alignment of all wheels and tension of the tracks ,if this dosnt sort it try 480 motors with 3:1 gearboxes  but make sure you have a fan fitted .Have these in my Tiger 1.

hi Pete, the impact boxes are low ratio, equal to the correct scale speed of the `king tiger. both sides seem to turn ok, the alignment looks ok, i thought it was the rx18 board but the rx14 board does the same thing. Im wondering if one of the motors may be weak. But sometimes when turning on grass, the pitch of the motor changes, it starts off at a high pitch but then nearly instantly it slows down. Same motor in reverse seem twice as fast and more powerful. Could it be the wires from the board, maybe i should re-solder the wire tips, im using a chocolate block to connect the wires from the motors. or should i solder straight to the motors?

Hi if it runs in straight it isnt a motor if its trying to turn all the time it could be the motor or track that is dragging it round .if the only time you notice something wrong is in a turn it could be the track is to tight (new tight)or the tension is to much ,its one of them where you have to try something and if it dosnt cure it try something else.Just had a thought sometimes the track jumps the rear idler and sit on it wrong.also check for small stones between the wheels.sounds like there is something is jamming on one side.

its a 4600 battery, tons of power, Ive never run it flat!! even after 3 hours.....it only struggles on grass, in fact ive spent that much time and money on it, i could have bought a new one!!!

Im off to Bovington this weekend so may go mad and just buy a new Tamiya KT.....will have to make sure the wife isnt looking....LOL

Check the pinions. Is one slipping? I have had this and the symptoms were the same.

if it was slipping, wouldn't it get worse and worse? until it would slip all the time, i will check it though.....i filed the shaft on the motor flat before i put the pinion on and tightened it.
