Bearing in mind the paint job on my pantiger uppers not bad for now, is it viable to swop the lower chassis, eg will a panther g lower fit, will the metal chassis fit etc?

I know a Tiger 1 upper H/L will fit the Pantiger lower if you swap the rear plate.
No way an H/L Panther upper will fit a Pantiger lower without huge surgical intervention.
The Pantiger is only a Tiger lower under a very oddly adapted pseudo-Panther upper.

So...........

Get yourself a real nasty-cheap Tiger 1 & make the best out of the Pantiger lower into a great Tiger 1
Then use the Pantiger turret(with a new barrel) as a Pantherturm bunker.
Or, use the engine deck, rear plate and turret of the Pantiger as a Panther 'A' conversion.

Sorry mate, but the Pantiger you have is very well done, but it wont be anything else other than a really nice Pan-tiger.

Cheers Herm, thought that'd be the case... just found a panth g chassis moulding cheap, was half hoping with a bit of fettling would at least get around the lower front issue...

What you need to know is that Heng Long are toymakers and their first venture into r/c Armour was the Tiger 1,
They were caught on the hop with the popularity of the Tiger 1,
They had nothing readily available as the next in line so some one came up with a plan to use the Hull and all the running gear including the r/c from the Tiger 1 and because a Panther was a medium Tank and the Tiger was a heavy the Panther body would be too short so the front was stretched and so we have a Panther that the German army never had,
The Pantiger
This gave Heng Long enough of a breathing space to get the next design ready for production.
So that is why the Hull can with as Herman said a new rear plate accept a Tiger 1 body and become a Tiger 1 early but converting it into a genuine Panther is just not worth the effort,
After all if Heng Long couldnt do it it presupposes that it is more than we might easily manage.
