When printing the barrel, disable the support printing as it is unnecessary, and if you leave it enabled, the constant filament retraction causes print head clogging, reduced print quality, and print failure. I had to modify the scad (I updated the published scad) as the brass tube wouldn't fit in the barrel, and tried four times last night to reprint the barrel with failures at various times during the print.

I thought it was dodgy filament but had the same result with new filament. It was only when I carefully observed the print and saw the clogging occurring that the penny dropped. Only when I disabled the support did the print run properly. The change also cut the print time from nearly six hours to just over 3!

Hmmm, now CURA v3.4.1 is giving me problems. With v3.3.1 the link from the raft to the model was fairly strong, it could be snapped off after printing but, 3.4.1 only provides a very flimsy link between raft and model, and the print snapped off the raft at 150mm height and 150 mins printing .... DRAT!.

So.. I have designed my own base and will cut it off after printing. I will now print with a brim and see if that works.

This is proving rather annoying and time wasting.

It’s a tall task (lol)
I’m still faffing with my ender 3 trying to get rid of the oozing & stringing, Bowden’s although good in some respects are a proper pita in others.
Looks like it will be a while before I’m happy to run tank parts on it.
Like you said, the barrel we used for the Chieftain was a god send.
Cheers

Hi Wayne, check that your bowden tube is properly seated top and bottom, that was an issue when I was getting serious stringing, and it was because the retraction was moving the bowden tube backwards and forwards, not the filament.

Thanks Alwyn, I checked that first lol, I’ve just done a small test print with 6mm retraction & it turned out pretty good, so sod it I’ve put the turret top on, let’s see how that turns out

Those turret bins start making it like a proper Centurion. Without those and the side skirts, I don't think I would recognise it
