Hello chaps,

Got myself a new Panther and have a few questions....

1. Is it a normal thing that the metal tub in the metal chassis is somewhat flexing? It seems to be separating itself slightly from the outer plastic frame..... I thought of buying plastic-metal glue and just closing the gap, anyone ever tried this? Picture:

2. Can anyone identify the recoil unit in the picture above? It makes an odd whirring noise before it fires and the firing doesn't seem to be instantaneous upon pressing the button but rather a random few seconds later. This leads to the 3rd problem...

3. After firing the gun once the Taigen MFU continuously makes the firing noise even when it is physically not firing the gun. Any other sound from an action (Gun elevation etc) overrides the firing noise but after that it just continues.

hi there the recoil is the heng long jagpanther recoil unit not a taigen one

The constant firing noise might be caused by a stuck trigger switch. The trigger switch is located on the side of the recoil units towards the back. Check to see if the contacts are stuck closed. If they are you can easily adjust them by slightly bending the metal tab that acts as a spring. Make sure to turn off the tank before making any adjustments.

I think it might not be the taigen mfus fault. I connected it to another tank and it ran just fine, so there must be something funky going on with the recoil on the panther....

To fix the chassis issue, I tried CA ie super glue, doesn't seem to work at all. Perhaps you need something to clamp the two parts together which is tricky. Any other glue suggestions, epoxy?

Hi You could try a few nuts & bolts to pull it together . Just check where to drill holes first. Have had a hull where the plastic was warped tried hot water then a hairdryer to straighten it out. Problem is you would have to strip the tank down.

Use magnets to clamp, one either side (if you can) the best are magnets from hard-drives for this!

Good idea, those neodynium magnets I have lying around are pretty strong. Problem is how do you hide the magnets sticking out on the outside...

I just do it whilst it glues to clamp it - modern super glues are pretty good! There are a few out there now that are much less brittle, failing that look in a good hardware store/builders merchants for some of the more exotic glues! "Sticks like" is a good one, but if you need runny, you are more limited!
