Thanks Alwyn!
Now that I’ve finally got my printer running again I’ve been busy printing the suspension, took me a few attempts but I cracked it eventually. I’ve just completed half of the wheels, so tomorrow I’ll take it easy & make a start on the idlers, sprockets & return rollers.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers

I’ve been working on the chassis tonight, it’s not twisted yet, think I’ll leave it overnight for all the joints to go solid.

Edit, I cut the gearboxes in half so the nuts would print better.

Now for the turret. Unlike wibbly I don't have nerves of steel so the thought of a two and a half day print of the whole turret was very scary, so I chopped the stl up into four pieces to be glued together. Even so the first layer was fifteen and a half hours with a couple of scary moments when the print warped slightly on an overhang and started to catch the print head but disaster averted and here's the first part. 8O

You probably can't tell from the photos but it's a big turret so I'm now trying to decide whether to use the small or large turret ring.

Looks great so far.
I started printing a sherman 3 days ago at my mom's place, still don't know if it worked out estimated print time was 44 hours.

Greetings tim

By eck that’s a big bugger!
What’s the longest dimension on it Alwyn, I’m wondering how much surgery it’ll need to fit my print bed.

Hi Tim, thanks for the great job on the turret, it's coming together great!

Wayne the turret is 240mm at it's longest and you could fit it diagonally if you have a print bed size limitation.

Printing is progressing and it's now looking like a (BIG) turret.

It's obviously going to need milliput and sanding but starting to look good. I've tried to load the stl's to the download section as a zip file but it doesn't seem to like it. Anyone waning the stl's please e-mail me at alwynft@aol.com

Hi Alwyn,
Thanks for sending me the STL's for the turret!
Unluckily using full turret sections like you, gets me too close to the limitations of my print bed, I've ended up cutting the turret into 4 quarters front top & bottom & rear top & bottom.
Front top print time at 10 hours 0.1 layer height
Front bot print time at 20 hours 0.15 layer height
Rear top print time at 20 hours 0.1 layer height
Rear bot print time at 23 hours 0.15 layer height
ill get the first one done tomorrow, wish me luck with the mrs for the other three lol
Cheers
