Circumstances mean that I am changing my Tamiya Tiger from a Planet 5 with analogue trims to my FlySky i6 with digital trims. I believe that Tamiya electronics need special treatment with digital trims. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Most of the radios that has digital trims are programable, and that i6 of yours is one of them, so that means you can asign any switch to do wathever function you want, and to forget touching the trims forever and ever which is a great thing.

I can assign switches to channels 5 & 6. Sadly, my knowledge of radio control would fit on a postage stamp with room to spare. How do I find out what channel fires the gun? All I know is with 4 channels, full trim in one direction fires the cannon with the stick up, and full trim in the other direction fires the machine gun with the stick down.

Hi mate, I dont have your radio, so I am not very sure about its programming capabilities... But I think you should be able to program any channel to any swicht, at your will. As far as I know the i6 is not a bad radio that can be easily .odded to use up to 10 channels, but thats another story, lol.

I dont have the tamiya schematics in mi mind now, but the channel that shoots the weapons i the same as the barrel elevation, so only 4 channels are needed for the old tamiya electronics.

What you should do is to asign a switch of your will with a maximum positive signal, and it will shoot one weapon. Other switch with maximum negative signal and will shoot the other.

Then you will have your sticks only for driving and controlling the turret, and you wont touch the trims never again in the primitive way tamiya wants.

Later if you want I could check the guns channel in some tamiya electronics that I have somewhere... And about programming your radio, there probably will be some tutorials on youtube and for sure in internet.

Hi When setting up your new radio ,easy way is to not move the sticks full range when setting up move up and down about 75% on all stick movements . then when you start to use it you will have gun fire at full movement of stick. don't need to use trims this way.
