Help I have the bug!!
I have just purchased a old style 27mhz heng long tiger 1 tank. Aerial set up on tank and fresh batteries everywhere. Tank flashes when turned on but won't start or respond in any way to the controller. Controller works as I tested it with my 27mhz Sherman using different crystals. I have tried a different set of crystals but same result in tiger. Any ideas please?

Is the main battery fully charged? If the battery is down then the tank will just shut down and sit flashing its lights.

just as a matter have you looked at the crystals and made sure they are touching the contacts and that you have the one marked rx in the tank and the one with tx on in the transmitter

I'm inclined to agree with Forgebear, that it sounds like a crystal contact issue. If the transmitter's good, as you say, then its signal is not getting through to the tank. This suggests a faulty crystal. My first, and luckily last, experience of a Tiger with a crystal,
was blighted at the outset with by poor contacts in the the glacis plate socket holding the crystal. I had to clean and tease the contacts out so that the crystal was a better fit.
That worked. Then, I gave the tank away...in a working condition

Thank you all for your help. I removed the tx crystal splayed the legs a little and replaced into the tank. I turned it on pushed the starter and it sprang into life. I was starting to think I needed a replacement board but am very glad it didn't. Tank you very much.
There is only one minor problem now, I am a boater who brought a landing craft and now own 2 Sherman tanks, 1 tiger tank and 2 wpl trucks. Does anyone need invading?

That's what I meant about teasing the contacts apart. It worked on mine, and I'm relieved that it sorted your problem out. I moved on to 2.4g models to avoid ever having issues with crystals again. I'd read lots of complaints about them online, quite apart from the range issue. Moving to 2.4g brought another set of unique problems, however.

Such is life's rich pageant.
