If that's the one presented by Norm Christie, and sidekick- whose name eludes me, it has been on TV before, a few times, in fact. Very interesting, nonetheless. I don't have the Discovery channel, but I do remember the programme
exhuming the old argument about whether it was a British or Canadian Firefly that decapitated Wittmann's tank. It was long thought that British Firefly gunner Joe Ekins, had knocked Wittmann out, as he'd already despatched two of Wittmann's other Tigers. No one disputes that of the Fireflies buzzing sound that day, it was his that knocked out at least three German tanks.

One of them may not have been Wittmann, however.
Good old 17-pounder..

Sounds like it might have been the same programme. Sky have a habit if recycling programmes forever.
The presenters concluded the British knocked out 3 out of 5 Tigers but the Canadians knocked out Wittmanns tank 007, the 5th Tiger getting away. There was some speculation that a rocket from a Typhoon could have been responsible instead but the damage to 007 was not consistent with a strike in the side/rear from a Typhoon rocket. They showed a photo of 007 taken by a french farmer in 1945 showing the damaged hull & displaced turret.

Damage like that sustained by Tiger 007 can only be explained by the ammo in the tank being hit, or a mine going off underneath it. You'd need an awful lot of Mentos and Diet Coke to make tons of turret travel that far..

The revised version is that a Sherbrooke Fusilier Firefly (Canadian) lurking behind a wall, delivered the coup de Grace.
A neighbour a blether with now and then, revealed a hitherto undisclosed interest in WW2 german armour. A couple of hours later, and we'd bored all the local sheep into a deep sleep, and even the tide refused to come in..
But what surprised me most of all (and i don't have the energy to raise the old eyebrows that often these days

)...was , that he'd actually made a pilgrimage to Wittmann's grave

.
I thought
I was odd..

.. I took a few steps backwards instinctively, until the shock wore off...and no, I couldn't see any suspicious looking SS like tattoos or symbols about his person..

But I did look..

The three mysteries Baron Von Richthofen, Michael Wittmann, and General George Patton,
Lots of convincing theories but no absolute Proof of how they came to meet their maker.
