Printing every tank from wot
Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:07 pm
hey everyone
last summer I broke my wrist. because of this I was not able to do any building.
luckily for me I also had a 3D printer and a lot of spare time (not being able to work).
So wile looking on thinyverse for stuff to print I found some one that had some tanks on his profile that only could be from wot.
And after a lot of googling I found a way to do this.
You will need the following 3 programs
.Autodesk meshmixer
.3D oject converter (you can pay for it ore just look for a download)
.123 Design
Than you need to find this map

Open the zip file of the tier vehicle you want (not the HD fils)
And open the map vehicles, you now will get this

Select a country

Select a vehicle

Go to the normal files

Than go in to lod0 these are the highest resolution models.

These are the files you can open juicing the 3d converter

here is the hull of one of the 500 objects in the Russian tech tree.

Now you can save it as an stl fil.

next you open meshmixer and select your tank part.

All the tanks in wot are more ore less scale 1/1000. so to get a 1/16 scale model you will need to enlarge them by 62.5 times.

Now to take of all the stuff you don't need juice separate shells.

You will get a list of shells (some 300 of them)

Now the best thing to do is to select the main hull and move it aside juicing transform.

Juice inspect to make sure there are no hols in the mesh. 123 design doesn't like it.

To make sure your tank is hollow juice make hollow.
you can play a bit whit the offset distance (to make the shell thicker) and drop to like 40 on the mesh density (it is the inside you don't need it)

Now export only the bare hull to a new stl file and import this in 123 desinge.

Here you can create a cylinder for were you want to make your turret ring and stuff.

Place this in the model more were you want the hole to be.

By juicing subtract you can make the hole.

Now select al the other stuff from the tank, combine this and export this as one fil

You can import this in to 123 design to.

After two hours of screening crying and stuff, you will be able to move the parts to there position.

Now just export the complete hull, don't forget the combine button.

Now you only need a bigger printer and you can print any tank from wot that you like.
You can also just cut it in to parts juicing the cutting tool in meshmixer (please juice youtube for more instructions on meshmixer and the other programs)
To get this all working took me a week so I don't feel sorry for you when it takes some time =p
It takes me 20 minutes to make a printebel file now.
There is no way to do this for warthunder as far as I know now.
Please post all your results in this topic, love to see them.
Greetings tim
