Newbie question #3

I bought a Tamiya M4 kit and I’m in the middle of assembling it. I need to get a radio system for it....but there are sooooo many choices. I don’t want to pay for features I don’t need. So where do I start?

I’m assuming the DMD T-05 and MF-02 act as the servos and ESCs so all I really need is the transmitter and a receiver to put in the chassis, correct?

My old Tamiya KT has servos.....I bought a Futaba 4 channel system for it way back in 1991. Is Futaba still a solid name?

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

If you don't intend to add extra features -and that could be tricky, Dayle, the obvious choice would be the Futuba 4YWD RX and receiver. They work right out the box with your Sherman. But- see below..

Your Sherman is unusual in that it can run in 2-channel mode though, where other full-option Tamiya tanks require a 4-channel transmitter.
Here's the wiring for 4-ch setup on your Sherman with the Futuba/Tamiya RX:

Hope this helps.

I just bought myself a Flysky FS-i6X 10CH 2.4GHz AFHDS 2A RC Transmitter With FS-iA10B Receiver Remote Control on Amazon. Good price, and a few extra channels can become handy for future projects.
