Hey Guys,
Have a couple production questions and want to see if anyone has any info?

1) Did the battalion emblem get painted over Zimmerit or did the they Zimmerit around the emblem? I have a couple photos, but its hard to see.
2) Did the crews apply Zimmerit in the field or did they come from the factory with the Zimmerit applied?

If tanks and AFV's were allocated to specific units after they left the factory, then it's very likely that the unit insignias were applied by maintenance crews from the relevant Kompanie or Regiment upon arrival at their depots, I guess.

That is a great article on Zimmerit

Totally make sense that the insignias were applied after the factory Zimmerit.
