I got a number of figures with some donated Tank parts. I believe one of the figures pictured

was amongst them. It was in a poor State, missing a head and an Arm and had a vest made of what looked like Blue Tac. I had a number of figures i didn't wish to use. I believe those figures came from the Heng Long Stug 3? I'd like to say now, there is a special place in hell for Officer Doofy.

Using the original arm off Officer Doofy and a head off a standard Heng Long Commander i ended up with this figure.

And then i had to try and paint my first ever WW2 German Pea Dot Camo pattern.

The figure didn't look right so i added a WW2 map of the French Coast from 1944 and it doesn't matter that he isn't actually holding his gun.

While my painting isn't up to the standards of a lot of people (i blame poor lighting, poor eyesight and shaky hands?) I am happy with my first attempt at painting a figure for 15 years. Sure it could do with some improvements but this will do for now. Pictured with my Stug III.

I'm looking at these pics with poor eyesight, shaky mouse, and poor lighting; but they look perfectly fine to me  :) If this is your standard at the outset, then a little way down the line you could well be a local maestro.

Thanks for the kind replies. While i'm not 100% happy with the end result I tend to keep these sorts of figures, mistakes & all & hopefully improve on the next figure. Currently eyes seem to be my biggest problem, having the correctly thinned paint to apply the pupils without giving the figure Black eyes is one problem. Poor eye sight & low light is hardly ideal but i'll overcome it.

My figure painting is improving although I thought i'd painted the eye correctly until I saw them on the PC. The pattern is closer to but still not Pea Dot camo.

Have a look on YouTube for Dave Lundquist's videos. Thee Is is one dedicated to painting eyes.
