I'm not sure if this is the right board, since it's not a heng long truck, but if anyone wants it moved that's cool with me. I just figger military trucks here and civilian trucks with RC Cars & Trucks, but I might have that wrong.

As to the drivers name how about Donner (Und Blitzen) ?
There is a Half Track conversion kit on sale for the Opel Blitz though I wouldn't be messing with that lovely job of work.

You should see the inside of the bed.

The inside of the bed is the main reason I want to scrap the crate idea and put the board under the hood and the speaker and battery between the frame rails. I may need a smaller battery, like a 1000 mah lipo. I want to be able to run the truck with the bed totally empty to show off the finish. I just wish the manufacturer hadn't had to put in those big ejector pin marks, but they're not nearly as visible with the sides up.

I've probably missed it somewhere, but what make is the Blitz? It looks a lovely model.

This is the asiatam Blitz. They don't do this kit anymore, but you can get the truck itself for 300 euro (for me it's minus VAT but more shipping).

I must say, If I were to diversify from my current tracked vehicle obsession, I could find something like this to be a really attractive prospect My grandson would love it too although if anything, with advancing youth, he's more concerned these days with clothes and appearance, where I couldn't care a damn about either (too late for that )...
Loved the improvised servo disguise. It really did look like a wartime engine block!

I actually thought about Gunter but the shop I work in has a dog named Gunther so I decided against. So far no one has given me anything better than my original thought of Otto. I liked the "Donner & Blitzen" thing but never heard of anyone besides that buck named Donner.

You'll have to wait till the boy has a boy of his own before he really comes back to the hobby, I'm afraid.

This truck also means I finally have to learn about Notek lights. I know what they are but that's about it. I assume they were for use in blackout conditions, but were they regular dim white lights, or maybe red or green? There's a Notek mounted on the front bumper, but I just happen to have a lighted Notek I was thinking about using with a pico or receiver controlled switch. I'm pretty sure the pico would draw receiver power and I could then just put the proper resistor in the led circuit.

The great work on the engine and paint and that excellent bed are all the work of our very own Jackalope.

So what about the truck loaded down with ammo crates, the trailer behind it also full of ammo, and behind that an 88mm flak gun? Plausible?

Are you thinking about some sort of "Q'- truck, Gary, with the hidden 88? Why not? Ah....yes..Jackalope's a dark horse. I was pretty impressed by the work he'd put into the Tiger 1, that Painless posted a memorable thread on.
