Hi All,
Is there any benefit to have Metal Rotation ring with ball bearing for the tanks?
What does it do?
TIA!

I would guess it ks only heavy without additional benefit. At least for a plastic hull.

Whether or not there is anything to be gained from putting a heavy lump of metal on a Plastic/Abs body as well as the weight of the Turret is debateable but having a decent set of bearings to aid rotation is certainly useful,
If you decide to buy one there are certain things to look for,
First make sure it is a 360 rather than a 320 degree disc,
Do ensure you order the right size as they come in "Large" or "Small" with a full wiring harness included as well as the "Slip Ring" and make sure the Turret ring is fitted to take the "Slip Ring",
The wiring harness comes for an I/R Turret or a BB Turret, make sure you order the correct one for your Tank..
You might like to think about getting the Plastic/Abs 360 degree Turret ring with wiring harness and "Slip Ring" which is readily available and will certainly take a lot of the excess weight off the Tank Body that a metal ring would impose.
I have to confess to an element of hypocrisy in that I have two Metal Turret rings, No problems with them so far.
Shaun.

I would say depending on the application it could have it's benefits.
On the M1 Abrams I have servo turret rotation and with the very large turret it spins nice and smooth with the bearing design of the metal ring.

Do the bearings deal with vertical or horizontal friction? I can't tell from the picture.

Thanks all for the answers.
I already have 360 mod done.
So, this means it will smooth out the rotation of the turret. I might consider getting one.
Cheers all

Beware that the openings on these metal ones are different than the plastic ones so depended on your set-up in the turret, you might need to cut openings which is not pleasant.
